Those killed in the tragedy were Lorenzo Gamble, 43; Brian Pendleton, 38; Kellie Pyle, 52; Randall Blevins, 70; and Tyneka Johnson, 22. A sixth victim — the teenager — was not named due to his age.

“We are saddened to announce the names of those we lost on Tuesday evening at the shooting at Walmart on Sam’s Circle but hope that with this information we can honor their lives in our community,” the City of Chesapeake said in a statement Wednesday night.

“Please join us in praying for the family and friends of these community members who we have lost.”

All six victims worked at the superstore in Chesapeake, where suspected gunman Andre Bing, 31, served as a night shift leader. They were all gathered together inside a break room preparing for their shift Tuesday night when Bing pulled out a pistol and opened fire on his co-workers, police said.

When authorities arrived on the scene they discovered three people dead, including Bing, inside the break room. Police said he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A fourth person was found fatally shot near the Walmart entrance while three more were rushed to area hospitals, where they were later pronounced dead.

Michelle Johnson, Pendleton’s mother, said her son was just days away from his 39th birthday when he was killed.

“He had a real big heart,” Johnson told ABC News. “Anybody that wanted to laugh, or just want company, he’d buy you lunch. He’d buy you anything in a minute.”

The mourning mother added that Pendleton “loved his job” at Walmart, where he’d worked as a custodian for nearly 11 years.
